Angie's parents were
fighting all the time. It seemed there was never a quiet
moment in the house. Her parents were busy, busy all the
time, even their house was crowded lately with contractors
adding on a recreation room. She could hear the arguments
long after she had gone to bed. The word DIVORCE had been
said tonight, and Angie ran to her window and searched
the sky. The first star she saw glowed an odd blue green
color, she wished with all her might for the peace that
she hoped they would find on their trip the next day.
Her parents had bought
the Winnebago a year ago, this was the first trip they
were taking. Glares and short words passed between her
parents as they packed. The resort was 2 hours away, and
the trip actually passed in relative silence, until they
made that one wrong turn, Angie held her breath as her
dad angrily looked for a place to turn around. He pulled
onto a gravel road, approaching an old KOA with only one
camper in sight. Just as he was making his turn "boom",
a tire blew out. Angie just knew this would finish off
the trip in a heated argument. Everyone got out to inspect
the damage, Angie's Mom told her to go ahead and look
around. Angie approached the other camper that sat next
to the aquamarine lake, where an old couple sat in folding
chairs holding hands. "Seems like you all just made
it" said the old woman. "Oh, this isn't where
we were going", replied Angie. "Then let me
see if I can lend a hand," said the old man.
Hours passed, and
the tire wasn't getting fixed, but the old couple and
Angie's parents were having a wonderful time, just sitting
by the lake. "It's so peaceful here", commented
Angie's Mom as she took the wildflowers that Angie had
picked. Angie's dad looked at her Mom, and then clutched
her hand in his and said, "Let's just stay here this
weekend, we don't have to be in a rush". Her Mom
agreed, and they all had the best weekend ever, with smiles
and hugs, and no arguments.
