 
Beverly couldn't take
it, not another day of watching those little cliques of
girls. They were so fake, so shallow. They couldn't be
real friends, they just pretended to like you if you looked
right, or had something they wanted. They would have their
little "slumber parties" and prank call everyone not on
the IN list. Beverly got one of those calls; She hung
up the phone and stared out her window in tears. A pretty
peach looking star winked at her and she wished for a
real friend, one that would like her just as she was.
A new girl enrolled in school, her name was Jaci. She
had the look, Beverly was sure that she would be part
of the clique. Jaci was given the seat next to Beverly,
and she smiled. She seemed nice, but Beverly wasn't going
to give her much of a chance. In the weeks that followed
it seemed to Beverly that Jaci was the queen bee, all
the clique girls hovered around her.
Then came the invitation, the Queen's Slumber Party. Beverly
walked to her seat, seeing all the peach colored invitations
on the others girl's desks, and to her surprise, there
was also one on her desk. She looked over at Jaci, and
was about to say she wouldn't be able to attend, when
Jaci burst into a big smile and said, I hope you are coming,
I want so much to be your friend.
Reluctantly Beverly packed her overnight bag with her
favorite peach colored nightgown and fuzzy slippers. Her
Mom dropped her off, and Jaci was waiting to greet her,
she grabbed her hand and led her up to her room, there
on the bed was Jaci's nightgown. "Do you like it?" asked
Jaci. Yes I do, it's my favorite color.
The other girls arrived and the night was fun. Jaci asked
Beverly's opinion on each thing planned. When the idea
of making a few phone calls came up and Beverly said no
way, Jaci giggled saying Beverly is so wise and has such
good taste. Beverly finally whispered to Jaci; "I'm so
glad I'm here", and Jaci replied; "Oh I just knew we were
destined to be friends, look how pretty we look in peach!"
